Skin Infections

  • Skin is the largest organ of your body. Its function is to protect our body from infection. Sometimes the skin itself becomes infected
  • Skin infections are caused by a wide variety of germs, including bacteria, virus, fungus and parasites.
  • Some organisms may infect the skin, nails and mucous membranes, but they do cause systemic disease if left untreated or delay treatment
  • Signs and symptoms of infection – pain or tenderness, localised swelling or redness/heat
